Honest men and Public Business - John Adams

Public business, my son, must always be done by somebody. It will be done by somebody or other. If wise men decline it, others will not; if honest men refuse it, others will not.

CK Comment: All true enough. Unfortunately the argument that if I did not do a particular evil deed someone else would have has been used as a justification by wrong doers since the dawn of humanity.
