CK Comment: While sharing the sentiments against slavery, CK isn’t entirely convinced that the fundamental principles in the Declaration of Independence are either self-evident, or entirely valid. It’s still a fine quotation. One notes that Thomas Jefferson, one of the authors of that document, and a close friend of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, did keep slaves.
