This has been colloquially reduced to:

“Live by the sword, die by the sword”.

The line is an extract from Jesus instruction to Peter to put down his sword, when “authorities??” arrived to arrest Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

There is no reason to think Christ was the first to express that idea.
